Fashion Life

men’s shoes

Shoes are often a hidden part of men’s fashion but I’d say the shoe fashions change far faster and are far more restrictive than other men’s fashion. The big stores decide what we’re going to wear, but unlike trends in clothing fashion being quite general, the shoe designers make identikit shoes that look plain weird.
A couple of years ago they tried to foist blocky, flat ended shoes on us, intent on making us look like we had penguin feet. Then it went the opposite way, with absurd pointy shoes that look like winkle pickers from the 1960s.
Now they seem to have gone somewhere in between, with bizarre shoes that are pointy, but flat at the end. Go anywhere on the high street now such as Next or Top Man, and the only shoes available will be these bizarre pointy/flat ones, that you never see anyone wearing.
That leaves proper designer shoes that cost a packet or old faithfuls like Clarks that aren’t fashionable at all. So what do you do if you want some good value, good looking shoes? When you find some you like, buy 10 pairs and wear them for the next 20 years - that’s what I’m tempted to do when I find some I like.
Every one do really need a good pair of shoes.
